new harddrive.

antoj: (good for you)
i tend to get overly paranoid with my things. especially if its an electronic device with a lot of important data on it. I've gone through so many harddrives because I've declared them dying (maybe before they actually were) and i also have a bin with like 20 old hdd in it. no jokes my last drive actually WAS dying.

that is making clicky death noises randomly (but not quite dead...yet) and also taking forever and 90 years to open a file folder. (srsly my internet was faster than opening my documents)

SO I GOT A NEW DRIVE. now i have 935gb of space. the only bad thing is having to reinstall EVERY SINGLE THING. it feels like i should at least have more new components in my computer after that, BUT NOPE ITS THE SAME OLD SLOW CRAP that won't even play alan wake :'c :'c :'c

i named my "NEW SYSTEM" stahlarms though because i am clearly not all creeping on stahl/killzone 3 atm. nope not at all.

i need to name the harddrive now too. it needs to be cool. but i will probably just call it Flea-Tortilla something. don't ask OH TOO LATE

AND NOW I GET TO SPEND ALL OF FOREVER INSTALLING PROGRAMS :'C

actually i had a lot more programs in my start menu in my old setup. but i dont even remember what i had installed. i feel like it should be important because i use the start menu instead of desktop shortcuts desktop icons are ugly AND I JUST I DONT KNOW. im sure i'll remember. eventually.

this post is pointless but i'm waiting for junk to transfer/install and i feel like i can't do much of anything else!!!!!!!!!!!

You should name the HDD "Commodore" because yes. The HDD name has to match the computer name ok. This is why my computer is named GLaDOS and (nearly) everything that connects to it has a Portal-related name.

Also your start menu is pretty similar to mine lmao. Except with a little more because I'm usually too lazy to pin everything. I'm glad to know I'm not the only person with a vendetta against desktop shortcuts though LOL. The only things I let have shortcuts on my desktop are my Steam games :I

BUT IF I DO I'LL BE BREAKING MY TRADITION OF NAMING EVERY HARDDRIVE SINCE...forever "Flea-Tortilla ___" i can't cope with change. it feels funny giving my computer a new name and everything EVEN THOUGH IT'S STILL TECHNICALLY THE SAME. LOL. my last one was called wasteland, which was a Fallout reference.. PROBS MEAN I GOT IT UP IN 2009... but that would have been a HDD specific name too, bcuz my actual system is still older than that. i think it was rainbowcabbage before that OR SOMETHING SIMILAR TO THAT. LMAO. this same motherboard has had 3 different names now...nbd.

my old start menu took up my entire screen. LOL. this one is literally half the size of my old one. ITS BUGGING ME BECUASE IM LIKE "HOW AM I MISSING THIS MANY THINGS ;___;"

i have NO SHORTCUTS except my poop/dump folder...things i am too lazy to save where they belong or temporary files (since i delete/sort them later on lol) and recycle bin. BUT YEAH. i like looking at my wallpaper usually when im on my desktop. SO I DONT WANT CRAP ALL OVER IT. >:c
[identity profile] thekayla.livejournal.com wrote:
Jun. 19th, 2012 10:18 pm (UTC)
BUT IT'S THE MOST APPROPRIATE HDD NAME :'C :'C :'C look even Sev thinks so. YOU DON'T WANT TO MAKE SEV SAD, DO YOU? I totally understand finding that strange though lol. Any time I've had to wipe a computer I always give it the same name because it's just weird otherwise...

JFC LOL. Though to be fair, mine would probably be bigger if Windows 7 didn't have a search bar right at the bottom of the start menu. So whenever I need a program, I just pull it up and search for it and smash the enter key until it opens lmao. WINDOWS 7 FEEDS MY LAZINESS.

This is how I feel too. I have a wallpaper for a reason. I want to look at it, not at millions of desktop icons. Whenever I see a screenshot of someone's desktop that is filled with icons, it just makes me want to cry :'c

LMFAO. i wonder if i can fit flea-tortilla commodore. commodore flea-tortilla sdlkajdjlasdjks

I JUST FEEL LIKE IT SHOULD BE MORE TO WARRANT A NAME CHANGE LMAO. but then i realized i really wanted it to be called stahlarms SO YOU KNOW WHAT I JUST DID IT. also i really want to play alan wake. ;______________; someday!!!!!!!!!!! /flips table

W/E JERK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! some of us don't have the luxury of new OS!!!!!!!!!! plus i have like 100 million windows xp home keys i got for free from people giving me their old broken computers that had windows keys on them. LMFAO. /the best person/ SO I FEEL LIKE I NEED TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS. i'd have to PAY MONEY for windows 7 if i wanted it ok. my dad and my brother both got windows 7 but im like NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOPPPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEE im always the last one to change OS too. i resisted windows xp until a piece of hardware i got was no longer compatible with windows 98 (YES WINDOWS 98) .......actually windows 98 and windows xp are the only two OS i've ever used on my desktop. :'D

LMFAO ME TOO. IM ALWAYS LIKE BUT LOOK HOW CLUTTERED IT IS Ajhashkhsdhsdj.

even when im too lazy to sort my junk files i will at least move them so they're not blocking faces of my wallpaper. LOL.

But you have the most badass computer now because StahlArms. and YES SOMEDAY YOU WILL PLAY ALAN WAKE, OK :'C

LOL you would want to upgrade your hardware before even thinking about switching to Win7 anyway. It's all shiny and shit. At least whenever you finally do upgrade from XP you'll be skipping Vista... :D I also like how you went from 98 to XP and casually skipped the shit that was ME. JUST SKIP ALL THE SHIT OS RELEASES NBD.

EXACTLY. how does someone find anything when their desktop is so cluttered :'c and how do they see their wallpaper :'c :'c :'c

i keep hoping someone in my family will want to upgrade their OLD JUNKERRRRRRRRR and give me all the pieces. im sure anyone's old crap can run alan wake ok. and i want free computer hunks.

LMAO ITS FUNNY HOW THAT WORKED OUT, ISN'T IT?! I actually did notice this too. And yeah, I hear Windows 7 is useless sparkle (AND WELL, I HAVE IT ON MY NETBOOK, WHICH SHOULDN'T HAVE WINDOWS 7, IT SHOULD BE XP OK. its not made for windows7)

ugh i didnt even think about finding something. >:C people need to do it right or not do it at all ok. obviously i am god of computer desktops everywhere.
[identity profile] thekayla.livejournal.com wrote:
Jun. 19th, 2012 11:01 pm (UTC)
Y THEY NO UPGRADE... they really do need to do it so you can salvage parts :'c

BUT IT'S PRETTY USELESS SPARKLE. You can turn the sparkle off (like I have on my laptop because dying graphics card lololol) but it's not nearly as cool. Win7 really is not made for netbooks though I don't even understand what people are smoking to want to put it on there.

My ex was someone who put EVERYTHING EVER ON THE DESKTOP and it annoyed the fuck out of me. He never could find anything either ftr. You are god of computer desktops though. You understand how they're supposed to work... :D
[identity profile] antoj.livejournal.com wrote:

one time i looked up the specs to windows 7 and my netbook is barely skirting that line. and im just like "why would someone do this to you, you poor netbook" i mean it can barely play youtube videos because windows 7 is pooping all over it. if it had a cd drive i would totally try to install windows xp over the top of windows 7 bcuz it would probably run a lot better. LOL.

LMAO O GOD THAT WOULD BUG ME SO MUCH TOO. yea i get bothered wheni m lazy and using my desktop as a dumpign ground and it has more than 3 files on it ok. its like UNACCEPTABLE.
[identity profile] thekayla.livejournal.com wrote:
Jun. 19th, 2012 11:32 pm (UTC)
Putting an OS on a system that JUST BARELY meets the minimum requirements is such a bad idea. That poor netbook. Every netbook, really. Poor all of them. As for the no CD drive, though... couldn't you make an ISO of your XP disc, install a virtual drive on your netbook and mount the ISO, and then set it to boot from the virtual drive? voila, XP installation, right?

My laptop desktop has four files on it. mmhm is it bothering you yet? :D
[identity profile] antoj.livejournal.com wrote:
Jun. 19th, 2012 11:46 pm (UTC)
IT IS THE WORST IDEA. i kept wondering that too. poor netbook doesn't deserve that ok. esp cuz its crap windows7 where you cant even change the desktop without cheating. :|

.......yes..........so are those widgets on the right hand side. tell them this isn't mac os.
[identity profile] thekayla.livejournal.com wrote:
Jun. 19th, 2012 11:53 pm (UTC)
The netbook version of Win7 is the worst thing ever. No netbooks deserve that fate.

Yes, I thought you'd like the widgets too :) :) :) those aren't on by default in Win7 though. They were in Vista iirc which is why they're still on my laptop (since I upgraded it from Vista to Win7) but not on my desktop PC at all. I'd turn it off but I'm lazy and I like having the weather right there anyway :D

My desktop PC would annoy you even more though... I think it has SIX icons because games :D
[identity profile] antoj.livejournal.com wrote:
Jun. 20th, 2012 02:26 am (UTC)
that version shouldn't even exist. i still dont get the taking out changing the desktop background thing. I JUST DONT.

BUT THEYRE UGRRRRRRRRYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

why you clutter ur desktop. u cluttererererer. >:c stahl is judgin you
[identity profile] thekayla.livejournal.com wrote:
Jun. 20th, 2012 02:36 am (UTC)
I agree, it really shouldn't. The desktop background thing still baffles me.

Now I'm going to keep the widgets there forever because they bother you :D :D :D

MM MM LOOK AT ALL THIS CLUTTER
[identity profile] antoj.livejournal.com wrote:

it seems like more effort to code it out. its like MS just went out of their way to be dicks. esp bcuz its on every netbook. LOL.

jerk..... >:c

jensen is totes judgin ur desktoop clutter. and so is my icon jensen. DO NOT APPROVE.
[identity profile] thekayla.livejournal.com wrote:

I see that your friend suggested, "Commodore." Why not Flea-Tortilla Commodore?! :D

Guess who just ordered their Killzone: Ascendancy book?! The price had even dropped too!! Though, according to Amazon the book won't be here until the middle or end of July...:\
[identity profile] antoj.livejournal.com wrote:
Jun. 19th, 2012 10:47 pm (UTC)
LOL. I actually just now named it "Commodore Flea-Tortilla"

yeah actually mine said that too. but then it arrived in like a week anyway. It's because they expect sellers to ship media rate, which even if they do can be UP TO that amount of time, but could be sooner, and usually is. :D but yes that is exciting. I STILL NEED TO FIND TIME TO READ MINE. i hear its good though, and that stahl is amazing as ever.
[identity profile] pheonixxfoxx.livejournal.com wrote:
Jun. 19th, 2012 11:18 pm (UTC)
LMAO!! Hopefully, Commodore Flea-Tortilla will last you for years to come...;)

I'll probably read mine over at Rodney's. I never have any downtime when I am home anymore. I'm curious to learn more about Stahl, hopefully the book won't disappoint...;)
[identity profile] antoj.livejournal.com wrote:
Jun. 19th, 2012 11:47 pm (UTC)
I HOPE SO TOO! With 935gb i don't think I'll run into a space problem.........LOL.

I hope it doesn't either! I hear it follows killzone 3 pretty accurately but with a few more things fleshed out? So I'm pretty excited about that.
[identity profile] pheonixxfoxx.livejournal.com wrote:
Jun. 22nd, 2012 02:23 pm (UTC)
I think mine has enough gigabytes to equal one terabyte? At least that is what my neighbor told me...:3

After reading your last journal entry, it seems you rather enjoyed the book! Mine has been shipped, but who knows when it will arrive?!
[identity profile] antoj.livejournal.com wrote:
Jun. 23rd, 2012 05:50 am (UTC)
Yea my new one is supposedly 1 terrabyte too, even though they always lose a few gigs...somehow. Lol so its about 70gigs shy, but still leaves me slightly over 900 to fill up. :D :D :D :D

YES! It was really good! There was a couple of things I didn't like about it... but otherwise it really follows the events of the game fairly well. Haha. It added a few scenes here or there and even gave a bit of a backstory on Stahl, WHICH I WAS ABSOLUTELY APPROVAL OF. always nice knowing more things. :D
[identity profile] pheonixxfoxx.livejournal.com wrote:
Jun. 24th, 2012 08:34 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I never understood why you lose a few gigs. As long as my laptop runs for years to come, I don't care. Though, I do need to do some clean-up work to it. I was thinking of eventually getting an external hard drive too.

Unlike, the novel adaptation of The Fifth Element. I heard that it was horrible. There is little to no background info about the characters, which is what people want. I can't wait to read Stahl's back story! I'll let you know once the book gets here...;)
[identity profile] antoj.livejournal.com wrote:
Jun. 25th, 2012 10:04 pm (UTC)
I turned my old harddrive into an external. :D It's pretty handy, and it makes it easier to copy data from my old one if I forgot to pull anything off.

AWESOME! I hope the book makes sense too.. lol I was realizing they don't really describe what some of the characters look like? I mean, it was easy for me because I've seen all the cutscenes a few times and played the entire game twice.... Otherwise it's really nice. I mean it gives backstory on the set up... since it takes place exactly after Killzone 2 (like literally seconds after the end of that game) so its kind of confusing to drop into it if you didn't play it... but the novel explains those gaps pretty good. They also changed.....a few things. One of the other characters I kind of like they made pretty unlikable in the novel and I'm not sure why? They make him out to be inept when I never got that vibe from him at all in the game. :| So idk.

BUT OTHERWISE IT'S FLAWLESS. LOL.

it was actually pretty cool because it copies a lot of the dialogue right from the game itself and I could hear it all in their voices ksladljksalkjd.
[identity profile] pheonixxfoxx.livejournal.com wrote:
Jun. 26th, 2012 05:57 pm (UTC)
That was smart thinking!! I wish I could of done that with mine...:\

At least I know what Stahl both looks and sounds like! Malcolm McDowell has a very distinctive voice after all, LOL!! XD

Maybe, the book will be here today?!
[identity profile] antoj.livejournal.com wrote:
Jun. 27th, 2012 12:06 am (UTC)
I always do that with my harddrives... but then I always keep them. I have a plastic bin filled with them. It's kind of sad. LOL.

yes this is true. HE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT. well the other characters are pretty cool too. i don't really dislike any of them... except one part but its not present in the game so i pretend it doesnt exist but you could always ask if you had questions about stuff *_*

MAYBE!?!!? :D
[identity profile] pheonixxfoxx.livejournal.com wrote:
Jun. 27th, 2012 09:25 pm (UTC)
When the harddrive in my Grandfather's computer died, he turned it onto contemporary art. In other words, he glued it to a neon pink piece of poster board and then framed it. After he passed, my Mom gave it to me...XD

Yeah, if I am confused I know who I can some to. The book still isn't here, but I will be getting a book on Leopard Geckos tomorrow...:P

My Grandfather really was one of a kind...:3

One of the authors of the Leopard Gecko book I am getting is Ron Tremper. He is responsible for some of the interesting color morphs that are out there today.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1882770625/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00

Ron just released a new Leopard Gecko book, that I would love to get my paws on! Sadly, his more professional books run about $20.00 to $30.00 and go out of print fast. Thus, the prices go up to $100.00+ over time:

http://www.amazon.com/Herpetoculture-Leopard-Geckos-Philippe-Vosjoli/dp/0974297127/ref=reg_hu-rd_add_1_dp

I am bidding on a copy of his newest book:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/120937513532?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1426.l2649

Hopefully, I can get it for less then $30.00! :3

oooh. That is really neat. Is this to help you breed them? :o

also i see the auction already ended on that other one (i am so slow with comments ;-;) ...did you win? IT IS A LITTLE OVER $30 LOL.
[identity profile] pheonixxfoxx.livejournal.com wrote:
Jul. 2nd, 2012 06:19 pm (UTC)
Yep, it most certainly will! Though, I have bred them in the past, but things have changed some. The book will also help me to learn all the crazy new morphs!! :3

I lost, but I actually sat here and laughed my head off about it!! You see, the person that outbid me paid .50 more then what Ron Tremper sells the book for on his website. So, I ordered a copy from him and guess what?! He is going to sign it too. It is just one of those times, where I would love to message the winner and rub it in there face...XD
[identity profile] antoj.livejournal.com wrote:
Jul. 6th, 2012 01:21 am (UTC)

[identity profile] pheonixxfoxx.livejournal.com wrote:
Jul. 6th, 2012 02:00 pm (UTC)
Some people just don't shop around I guess?! Then there are those that have to win the auction at any cost, it is their money. Very silly, but it makes me enjoy my copy even more...XD

[identity profile] antoj.livejournal.com wrote:

What kind of data can google drive store? I've never really looked into it before. lol.

I'm constantly paranoid for my data... I usually do back ups every 6 months or so so I'd at least have /something/ even though I could lose a bit... BUT YEAH.
[identity profile] yoshikochan.livejournal.com wrote:
Jun. 23rd, 2012 10:08 pm (UTC)
XD Google drive is just a cloud service, you get 5 gb free (for any use) ~ but what I LOVE is the documents service *.* for fanfiction backup. That's why I'm crying over the most, is my lost writing. On top of the fact that it puts my writing off my volatile hard drives *.* it saves everything I write instantly - so amazing - I can even see when someone I'm sharing the doc is typing real time, it's so amazing...

I am still making back ups but writing is a continuous process, so it's pretty great.
[identity profile] antoj.livejournal.com wrote:
Jun. 25th, 2012 10:00 pm (UTC)
Ohhhh. Yeah a lot of the stuff I try to keep back ups of that's pictures and video... that probably wouldn't work?

I do use google drive for fics I write though. It IS really handy, though I can't type directly into it because it's too bright for me. I forgot they changed the name of it... lol I'm still used to calling it google docs.
[identity profile] yoshikochan.livejournal.com wrote:
Jun. 26th, 2012 02:01 am (UTC)
XDDD Yeah I keep calling it google docs but I'm forcing my brain to make the switch, so I don't get confused when the menu comes up ~ Hmmm I do type directly into it, but sometimes I type on notepad and copy paste. So wonderful ♥
