so leik... i managed to get a hold of those sly pooper games despite me saying I WOULD NEVER PLAY THEM because it has the most annoying fanbase and it irritated me that thousands of sly fans put down inFamous every chance they got bcuz they blamed inFamous for no more Sly Cooper games (EVEN THOUGH THIS WAS SUCKER PUNCH'S CHOICE >:C)
anyway.
i played them.
the first game was p cool but had god awful voices lol.
second game was fun...had some annoying parts but over all i liked it. i liked the story of this one the best i think...though none of them have super A+++ stories to begin with....
and then..........................the third game. uh. it started out good enough but by the ending it was like solid shitty minigames. like, really. i don't like driving the RC car, I hated the pirate ships (so boring, so slow, so annoying)...playing as 9001 characters doesn't make the game BETTER. and i just......ugh. lmao. not to mention character assassination on carmelita. WHAT IS PERSONALITY!?!?/1 HURR DURR. and her accent got worse in every game. D:
anyway, i finally beat them all and im like......why do people want a fourth one.....why is everyone screaming for a fourth one....they claim sly cooper 3 ends on a "cliffhanger" ....uh.....................no it doesnt. play inFamous 2, THAT is more of a cliff hanger than sly 3. k.
in fact, if the fourth one contains even 50% of the crappy minigames from the 3rd one I......don't want it.
................and if Sucker Punch rams inFamous 3 full of shitty minigames I might throw a goddamn table at them.
I JUST ..... I DON'T GET IT. the game peaked at the second one and went downhill from there. it is probably a good thing that a new developer is doing the fourth game, maybe they won't make it as crappy. :|
also i dont care how long that last trophy in sly 3 mocks me, i am not going to get it because the shitty pirate ship battles suck, and so does the last boss. :I so nope. why didn't they make the trophies harder for the 2nd game...then i might have fun getting them all instead of effortlessly unlocking them.
also i might be bias but infamous is 90000 times better than sly cooper. .......esp sly cooper 3.

nostalgia, probably, and honestly, they aren't all bad. the first two are way better than the third one...and even the first half of the third one is pretty good, but seriously........all the mini games at the end.....pure shit. :\
also i wasn't a fan of sly cooper himself...he seemed rather bland. his friends were much more interesting in comparison.
if you like platforming games then they can be pretty fun. :D
and yea, the pirate ship really doesn't fit into the games at all and has nothing to do with platforming whatsoever. all you do is slowly turn a boat and shoot canon balls at it. its super boring...and annoying. D:

I only have the impression of the first game, but it's kind of disappointing to hear that they didn't make much progress between the three of them in terms of development. :/ I know that can easily happen with sequels, but look at say, Ratchet & Clank or Jak & Daxter. They're from the same era, had a fuckton of sequels, and the sequels added a whole hell of a lot to the original.
I guess SPP is still relatively young as a company, but you'd think that for all their success, they could be a little more innovative with some of this stuff. I mean obviously they made some improvements once inFamous came around, but even then you can see similarities if you compare the two IPs. :/

lol i know. so much stuff i played in sly i was like OH MY GOD THEY DID THIS IN INFAMOUS TOO. im sure you know, since i told you every single time i found it. LMFAO. some parts of sly and infamous are different, and certainly the gameplay is.....but yeah.
they are kind of older games though so they aren't really up to standard at this point, but i still had fun with the HD collection.
carmelita's voice actor problems are hilarious. she's a different person every game and i hate her so much anyway arrrgggh buttmonkies
i liked some of the levels in the third one and it didn't take that long for me to do the minigame bits so it didn't bother me that much, but it's still kind of annoying that they went with that kind of thing. they tried to include a lot and it worked for some people and didn't work for others.
i think the thing is that the sly games are so much different from infamous that you can't really compare them on the same level because they are two different style games that are for two different age groups. sly could probably be better compared to crash bandicoot or spyro (i enjoyed spyro a lot more) and infamous with something like Arkham though that's probably a stretch (also in which case i'm a little biased lol).
i've got sly 4 pre-ordered already because i had fun with the series. i wouldn't really say one game is better than the other because i enjoyed both and didn't like some parts in both. but that's my opinion, and after talking with some game teams/reps at video games live and NYCC i've gotten used to analyzing over comparing (unless it's a sonic game, because all of the new ones are awful)
i always remember that my favorite game is shadow of the colossus which is super awesome to some people and super boring to others lol.
i'm glad you tried sly though, and i think it's good you at least had some fun with it. and now you know hoe not to make a character with a hispanic background. :D
also, i am very familiar with older games, just recently i replayed crash bandicoot 3, and had a ridiculously fun time with it.
some of the minigames didnt take me too long, but it still doesnt excuse the fact that they werent really fun...i mean i am sure some people enjoyed them, but i play these kinds of games for platforming action......not so i can slowly turn a pirate boat or drive a car with the worst controls in all of history.
and like, yea, they're different TO A POINT...but there is a LOT of shit from sly they just recycled into inFamous...like...so much so that as i was playing them i was starting to feel like spp isnt so creative lol. i mean i know developers re-use some things (like some ratchet weapons ended up in Resistance, for example) but ....there was A LOT of recycled sly stuff into infamous that just was like ehhhhh.....

for me, i might want sly 4 if they cut out a lot of the PLAY AS ALL THE THINGS and just stick with the same guys as from before... the second game was really fun and probably my favorite in the series. and maybe it was my fault for plowing through all three of them in a week (srsly) but i couldnt help but taste that lack of quality in the third one. i mean, i am sure it took them a long time to program all those minigames and shit but i kind of wish they would have put that effort into coming up with fun unique ways to use the characters they already had.
and yea, i see a lot of people claim infamous is boring and stupid too but w/e w/e, its opinion. i am just annoyed at butthurt sly fans crying about sly 4 on every single piece of infamous news. i don't see any other studios have this happen to them and its kind of annoying. :\
ALSOOOOOOOO i wanna say i didnt much care for sly's character. lol. he was too generic and kind of boring... but i liked his crew a lot better... its kind of weird and infamous suffers the same kind of issue (cole lacks quite a bit of personality too, but at least in infamous' case its because he can be two entirely different people) AND I JUST IDK.
i like carmelita in the first game, but by the third one its like....i dunno. lol. i just....i dunno. it must have been that shitty accent.

i totally even forgot about the recycling thing. thats what i felt like when i tried to play mario galaxy 2 since though the first one was pretty awesome, it wasn't as great as super mario 64 and i love that game to bits. i think they just need to learn to recycle the right things. xD
oh yeah, i forgot about the sly fans. i haven't met any and from what i've heard, i wouldn't care to. they sound like FF7 purists or something and i don't like FF so yeaaahhhhhh
and i totally know what you mean, i had to take my time playing each sly game because it was all i had to play when my sister was home. but i did play them one after the other. the second one was probs my favorite too

i mean, example, one of the things recycled from sly is the taking photos of things. in infamous 2, cole has to take pictures of things because zeke tells him to. IT DOESN'T REALLY MAKE SENSE IN INFAMOUS-VERSE but it totally does in sly cooper. like, srsly spp, you don't need to use everything from sly in infamous...i promise.
except then me and cass were making jokes that zeke asks for lewd photos and it was lolslmaolmaolmao yeaaaaaaaaa. its probably good i dont have to wait that long, but idk about infamous 3 yet.... :'D WHO KNOWS. im not sure how i could cope with anything that long..i mean i was going insane for resistance 3 and it was just 3 years..
ALSO I LOVE MURRAY TOO. XD My favorite i think was bentley...but murray was a close second and sometimes i liked him more (bentley's voice is kind of uhm.....ehh) but murray is amusing and i use him to bulldoze all the things. srsly when i was farming for coins in sly 3 so i could buy things from theifnet for the trophy (lol) i was using murray bcuz he is better than sly at pick pocketing, no lies.
