antoj: (clever)
so a while ago some boxes of old stuff were found, and we went through them to get rid of stuff. in one of them, i found the only MLP toy I ever had as a kid. at the time (when i was a child) i didn't care much for them (which is why i only had one) and probably why it was in a random box.

anyway, seeing as though she is a G1 pony and shoved in a random box of old toys my mom used for her daycare children (aka: toys me and my brother had outgrew/etc) her hair was an explosiony mess.

i actually posted a photo of her on twitter shortly after i found her: which is here. check out that exploded hair.

well anyway, she'd just sat on my desk all that time, but last night i did some cleaning and i thought, why not give you a make-over, super old pony?

*_* she came out pretty well, i think.

i also did some googling and found out her name is "Tootie Tails" (what an unfortunate name...) and the year stamped on her foot is 1987 (i found it after i read this, its an extremely difficult to make out (87) on her) 87 is the year i was born, ftr. So that kind of makes her more interesting to me.

Her body still has marks and stuff on it. I'm not sure what I can use to remove stuff off her, since they're kind of made out of that soft plastic? Ah well, I cleaned up her hair really nice, and while it's definitely not super soft or anything, it looks 900x better than when I found her. :D hooray.

I had some mild success cleaning my old ponies with palmolive. I've heard that a baking soda mix can also work for deep cleaning, but I didn't try it.

"Tootie Tails?!" LMAO...XD

I use Dawn dish soap, warm water and a tooth brush to clean Pokemon Kids Figures. I wonder if it would work on ponies too?!

aww poor fluttershy. :'c

anyway, i just washed her hair, and I put a bit of conditioner in it, then, while her hair was still mostly damp I brushed it out (slowly) little by little with a small metal comb I have (its actually for my cat lol) :x it worked quite well.

I like her cutie mark a lot. :3 You did a good job cleaning her up, even with the little scuffles that are still here or there. I think she looks good for being as old as she is. The sentimental value part of it makes it even better. c:
