it seems like wherever it is my collection gets posted there is always someone that doesn't get it. i can see not getting collecting but ... idk people.

take this comment i got on deviantART:
... Why throw away money on different regional versions? Different cover, ok, but that you could easily find on the internet and print.
there is a lot of things i could have said to this. a lot. "just printing it" isn't the same. it won't be the same quality, not to mention you can't even find decent size scans of most of the covers anyway. maybe for PAL/NA but probs not for japan...and probably not the inside of the insert, or the manual.

not to mention i don't even have a printer.

i replied with this though:
I'll "throw my money away" on whatever I damn well please. :U

There is more to regional copies than just the cover, and there is more to being a collector than just "throwing money away". Everyone's got a hobby.
that's right.

there is really no point in trying to explain these things to people sometimes. lol. at least this person says it to me and not on a forum where they don't think i'll find it. :D

ah, also the artbook isn't coming out in August... I expected as much because I hadn't seen any news from the publisher yet and August is fast approaching. Amazon changed the date to Dec 6th 2011...which if that is the date is funny because its the same day the comic collective book is coming out. At least I get more infamoose at the end of the year then, eh? lol my christmas gifts to myself. :b

also gives me more time to save up money for it all :3

tl;dr: collecting is srs bsns and infamous is my life.

bleeeeh :| That's just BS. Comic/movie/book/whatever collectors will go after different regional versions for the sake of completionism, and like you said, there's often more than what some would consider 'minor' differences, like covers. Also, "just printing it" - why would a collector want a random, unofficial print when they can have the real thing? I would think even a non-collector would understand that ("Here's $100! Btw, I printed it off my computer :D"). If I wanted to "complete" my collection of The Last Unicorn movie posters, I could easily buy reproductions off ebay, but I'd rather wait and hunt down the real thing. It's just not the same otherwise :|||

There's a lot of small differences in each of the copies. The manuals are different, and the disc art and the inside... :I Plus if you get one from an entirely different disc region (ie: region 1 vs region 2) it gives me like 10 more inFAMOUS saves on my ps3. :D ...which is good because i get them confused and I'd hate to delete the wrong file when I ran out lol...but I don't have to bcuz REGIONS YAY.

LOL I KNOW. the printing thing really got me.. why would I even??? A printer would not be able to capture the quality of the official thing unless you had like an industrial printer or something. :I

yeah, exactly. lol there is a lot of bootleg inFAMOUS posters on eBay...and some of them are quite pretty, but I avoid them on the sole fact that they aren't official posters.

but despite the few peoples that have crapped on my collection I will still keep showing it off because I love it. :I hates gonna hate/etc.

I think that response is fine. I get the whole "collecting different versions" aspect, and have even considered doing it with Fire Emblem... but the covers are so similar that it wouldn't make much difference.

Yea, see! Other collectors usually get these things (even if they don't collect the same things... XD) idk. The regional inFAMOUS copies (especially inFAMOUS 2) covers are so different...and most of the time when I actually get the game I find other differences as well... the japanese release's manual was so ridiculously colorful inside, for example.

Also, about fire emblem... maybe you should try getting another regional copy. :b If the cover is even a little different you might find more differences when you get the game and can compare disc art and manuals. Even my inFAMOUS vs inFAMOUS greatest hits (US reprint, pretty much) has different disc artwork. :o

The problem with FE (at least, FE 9 and 10, which are my favorites) is that the box art is almost exactly the same, minus the placement of the text.

English box art
Japanese box art

I haven't checked other countries, but I'm guessing they're the same since I've never seen a different cover.

Though, come to think of it, don't even have the English cover. There was only one Gamestop in my city that had the game, and they said "sorry, we lost the case". So they gave me an empty PS2 case instead.

Hmm... but you never know if the inside will be different too? Judging by my inFAMOUS releases, the NA release book is black and white, but the japanese one is full color and has different art inside it. :U THERE MIGHT BE SOMETHING IN THERE???

tbh I'm not sure why sony game covers vary so much. ._. This is pretty typical for their releases...

I wouldn't let them bug you dude. :/ They just don't get it. I'm sure if you were to put it in the perspective of something they care deeply about, then it would be different.

It kind of does bug me just because I've already seen a lot of people like HURR WHAT A DUMBASS over my collection or lol people telling me THAT ISNT EVEN WORTH ANYTHING. which is like lol again..........because even if not all of my things are worth money, quite a bit of it is... but if im not selling it why does value even matter in the end? :I

Sentimental value is everything in a collection. Don't let it get you down though. :C It doesn't make it any less important to you.

Yes, collecting is serious business and every collector has their own way of collecting! Some are completionist collectors, while others only collect a couple items of something they like. No one has the right to judge you! Heck, at least you have something to show for your $$$...;)

Yes exactly. I accidentally completionist collector in inFAMOUS. Sometimes I think I shouldn't be, but then i'm like "BUT I ALREADY HAVE ALL OF THE THINGS HOW HARD CAN IT BE TO STAY ON TOP" and then a $300 art book happens its just what.

but serious also what I do with my money really isn't anyone's business but my own. :I

"Accidentally," LOL!!! XD I agree, no since in stopping now, you have just about every inFAMOUS thing ever made! It would be silly to give-up...:3

True, if you want to use your money to wipe your ass then do so...;)
