inFAMOUS collection

antoj: (Awesome)
This entry is going to have about 900 pictures of my inFAMOUS collection. Since uh, after 6 centuries my japanese version came in the mail and I had already been planning to get pictures of my collection when it came.

IDK who will even give a shit but I am proud of this crap that i've wasted so much freakin munz on let me tell you so yeah.

The majority of my collection is here! Click this picture to get a bigger size that has comments scribbled on it telling you what everything is.

Of course my signed, framed poster of magical. ;; best. beeeeeest.

The shirts! I got these in that epic eBay lot i paid $400 for. There is another one like the grey one, but it's black, and is the size of a tent. lmao.

My *favorite* shirt. Look at how cool this is I don't even. fdjkjsdljf. I don't wear it cuz it's my favorite and I don't want to ruin it. Also because its the size of a tent.

Alright now I'm gonna go on about specific bits of my collection that I *really* like.

Starting wiiiiiith~

The European Special Edition!
This was fairly easy to acquire on eBay.

This is what you pull out of the slip cover. It kind of folds out into three parts. This is a picture of the back of it folded out half-way. |D I like the art~

This is the back of the third section of the fold-out.

This is the inside of it all folded out. I like how the disc has a picture of Cole on it and then uhh there's a mini-artbook (its diff than the other one I have) and the other book is the manual.

And then there is some more arts on the case underneath the disc slot. :O COOL.

Next up~!

inFAMOUS Japan Release
I got this from play-asia and it took them 900 years to get it to me. No seriously. I ordered it March 16th 2010. And uhm... I just got it... today. Yea. Also I just want to mention again that the "Z" rating is like the same as "Adults Only" in Japan. Apparently inFAMOUS is v offensive to Japan.

It's ridiculously colorful inside. I love it.

The art on the inside of the case is pretty cool too. XD It's just a bunch of art from the cut scenes but I like it! :D

The manual is in *full color*. Japan why do you have all the good things?

I really like this page from the manual. So colorfuuuuuuul.

Ok Now~~~

The Guide to Empire City
I'm not entirely sure what this is. All I know is that it was a promotional item used to market the game. I wasn't even sure what it was when I bought it. But I'm damn glad I did buy it because it is one of the *coolest* items I have I think. It has so much information in it, even stuff that wasn't in the game. It's just.. I don't even... Did I mention it has 40 pages? Yea. It's bad-ass.

It's got a really colorful layout too!

Moar colorful awesomness.

Yea look at how cool this is you're jealous don't even lie.

CHARACTERS PAGE. This page is *entirely* about Cole. kljfskfksd. It goes on to give some more information about the other important characters too. It's just.... best. best ever.

And now, last but not least~!

The inFAMOUS Press Kit
I *believe* this was used for marketing in EU. I bought it from the coolest seller on all of eBay (who also sold me an extra artbook after I lost an auction for it). I didn't even know what it was really, and the picture didn't show much but you know me. I buy things for little to no reason. I also paid a ridiculous amount of money for this 230 dollars lol because I failed to convert currency before slapping my bid in. Either way, this is still damn cool and I'm glad I have it. :|

The blue thing is a vinyl (I think?) slip cover and then this is what's underneath. :O All the silver stuff is super holographic so it changes all rainbow-y at different angles. ALSO IT'S SIGNED like 90% of my other stuff lolol

This is just after you open it up. The media disc is really neat. It has some cool pictures and some trailers (one of which i haven't found on the webs yet) I also found the Russian logo in the files. The only thing is that it's Blu-Ray only so I'm not sure how I can pull any of the pictures off the disc. :\ I'll see if I can figure something out though cuz they are damn cool. The other thing on the right side is actually a book that's like, glued inside of the press kit. It.....it's really cool...

FFFFFFFFFFFF. CONCEPT ART. I HAVEN'T SEEN THIS ANYWHERE ELSE EITHER. i like died ok. i mean wtf it even has Dallas like lklkfjsdkfj and Trish but no one cares about her BUT THE BEST....... THE BEST...............

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

More cut scene art. c:

Some more art, and the infos is stuff about the characters and the game in general. It's not nearly as indepth as the other guide though.

Actually right after that page is this center fold out that's like 4 pages wide of Empire City, but it photographs *really* bad because its made of shiny paper so I don't have a pic of it. BUT IT'S COOL OK

MORE ART.

In-game pictures. c:

Under the last page of the book is a demo disc, which I haven't tried since I assume it's just a demo. Lol. The white disc is actually another copy of the game (which brings my copies of inFAMOUS up to 5) and the black cardboard thing with inFAMOUS written on it is actually the soundtrack. :O I still need to get the retail version of the soundtrack though gdi

teehee. 1313 is quite possibly the coolest number I could have gotten in regards to this. Other than liek idk, 2424. BUT YEA MAN. FFFFFF. epic shit ok. epic. shit.

Bonus:

Crandles, do you want a inFAMOUS?

Also what is with cats and wanting to cram themself into the middle of w/e you're taking pictures of? :|

YEP OK THAT'S ALL THOUGH |D

Also if anyone wants to see bigger versions of any of these pictures just lemme know. I still have the big versions of all of them cuz I'm amazing. I can also take better/moar pictures of anything else if people are interested i doubt it but hey w/e i'm still offering

Someday I am going to add the Russian version of the game to this epic list. I ... I need it.

No. I need a sixth one!!!!! FFFFFFF russian i needs it. i needs it in my life.

lmao I usually feel the same way too, but inFAMOUS has such little merch its like idk. I mean that book I bought i literally had no idea what it was. It was just listed as "inFAMOUS Guide to Empire City" and had like one picture from the inside and it said it was 40 pages. I was like "GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME LOL" and yea. best purchase ever.

LMAO. I LIKE HOW I'M RUBBING OFF ON EVERYONE. skjlalkjksd talking about something incessantly really does do something huh? |D other than make me annoying

Your post spurred me to search for Fire Emblem art books but all I'm finding are Japanese books for the SNES versions. The art is lol-worthy since it's from the early 90s, but I can't read any of the character information since it's in Japanese.

I wish I had a PS3 so I could play this game! Come to think of it, I'll be making enough money in the coming months to buy a PS3, assuming I don't waste it on Pokemon goods first. (I found someone who wants to buy all of my English Pokemon cards.) I'm not sure if I'd get enough use out of a PS3 to justify the price though other than playing infamous, of course

You should totally get a ps3 ok! There's a lot of cool games for it heavy rain and resistance too coughcough but seriously, search it up! :D There's a lot of cool stuff coming out this year too! (I'm also looking forward to L.A. Noire that's supposed to be out in fall) FFFFFF but yea seriously. doitdoitdoit.

My problem is that I can't tell whether or not I will like a game until I actually play it. In general I like RPGs, but I've come across some very bad games that I thought I would like (based on previews).

I'm also sad that the PS3 isn't backwards compatible. My PS2 acts like it's going to die. It would be nice to have a backup system. Even though my PS2 library is small, I love the games I do have. By the way, have you played any of the PS3 DDRs?
[identity profile] antoj.livejournal.com wrote:
Apr. 24th, 2010 05:31 am (UTC)
Oh yea? I'm not very picky about stuff I mean... generally when I look up bits about a game I am usually sold and I like it when I play it. (Even Resistance, which I thought I'd hate the gameplay cuz I never considered myself a player of shooters BUTTTTTTTT not so!) But psn has a lot of demos up of tons of games too! O: It's a good way to test the waters for games you're not sure of. (I demo'd heavy rain and infamous, actually)

It's not backwards compat, but there's rumors flying around the rumor mill that it might get like an emulation thing in its OS to be backwards compat. IDK IF ITS FOR SURE BUT FFFFF i don't have a ps2 so I can't really comment (I do have like 2 ps2 games though lmao)

And I haven't played DDR... XD I've never rly played DDR ever...
[identity profile] kyogres.livejournal.com wrote:

I had no idea they offered demos. Are the demos free? And do they give you a good sense of the games? The DS demos are quite disappointing.

One of the other turnoffs is that there are so many models. I have absolutely no idea which one to pick. I've glanced at the model comparisons, but numbers don't mean much to me. For instance, I don't know how much memory I'd need on the system. I'd be tempted to go with the cheapest model but I might end up shooting myself in the foot.

Go play DDR! NOW! Seriously, DDR is about 75% of the reason I bought a PS2. It's also the only way I've been able to lose weight, and the only type of "exercise" that doesn't drive me crazy. The latest DDR for the PS2 was horrible though. The song selection sucked.

Er... have you played Final Fantasy XIII?
[identity profile] antoj.livejournal.com wrote:
Apr. 24th, 2010 05:43 am (UTC)
Well I think it depends on the developer as far as the demo goes. But yes they are free in the PSN store. :D The inFAMOUS demo switches you into random missions/karma levels and the Heavy Rain one gives you a couple of scenes to play through to get a feel for the game play.

Ehhhhhh They've come out with the ps3 slim model now which is liek 299? i think? you can still buy used/refurbed 80gb models from gamestop for like 250 I think. I bought an 80gb model in 2008 for 399 and I've not used up all the space. Besides if you *do* need more space the ps3 is very very easy to get a new hdd for. They just take standard SATA Laptop HDD. :O So then you can even get a 300+ gb ps3 really easy. though i'm not sure how easy it is to put new hdd into the slim model, cuz i don't have one

LMAO IDK MAN. D: I would probably kill myself on it. I'm a fag about that stuff. fffffff.

and uhhhhh nope. XD; I'm not an RPG person tbh. I've heard good things about it though, if that helps. :b

Yeah, I saw the $299 slim version. It's so tempting! I'd be very hesitant to get a used PS3 though. I bought my PS2 new and it started having problems a few years after I got it. Sony systems don't seem very durable. =/ That's the one thing I still like about Nintendo. Their systems never die.

Play iiiit. At least go to an arcade and play it. It's only 50 cents for three songs.

Aw. I guess I need to find someone who has played XIII. It looks good, but I think the battle system is similar to XII? I hate FFXII with a passion because the battles are so boring.

idk. as far as I can tell Sony seems to have problems with *launch* machines. The only ps3 I hear about dying are the launch consoles tbh. Mine sometimes locks up but that's kinda standard w/ any of the current gen systems tbh.
[identity profile] kyogres.livejournal.com wrote:

Locks up? o_o; I've never had my Wii lock up except during Wifi play.

I don't know if my PS2 was a launch console, actually. That might be worth looking into...
[identity profile] antoj.livejournal.com wrote:
Apr. 24th, 2010 06:09 am (UTC)
lol. I didn't mean the Wii though, the wii is just a glorified gamecube excuse me i'm bitter sklajdksad but xbox 360/ps3/pc etc/etc do sometimes freeze up during gameplay. it depends on the game as some are more glitchy than others. (ie: fallout 3 just about nuked my ps3, Resistance: not so much) It depends on the studio that did the game and if its a port or not. Generally games native on its console (like ff13, infamous, resistance, heavy rain) tend to run better than ports. But again, its the devs problem if it sucks. :|

Like I've never had littlebigplanet lock up on me. I've had it lag during online play but not freeze. Resistance never has either. inFAMOUS sometimes has glitches, but it's only locked up on me once or twice I think.

Woah there, I actually liked the Gamecube. It has much better titles than the Wii, at least. And better titles than the PS2 depending on which type of games you were into.

lol Thank you. I suppose my main question would be: How similar is the FFXIII battle system to the FFXII battle system? Because if they're exactly the same, I don't think I could play FFXIII no matter how amazing the characters and plot were.
[identity profile] eyebrowaddict.livejournal.com wrote:
Apr. 24th, 2010 06:09 am (UTC)
Dude dude dude if anything can be said about the battle system in FF13 it's that it's very fast-paced. 12 was like a slightly less suck 11 in terms of gameplay, and everyone knows that MMO-style stuff is the most tedious crap ever.

But yeah in FF13, battles are very cinematic in their presentation, and are very short. I mean, most random encounters are under a minute long and most boss fights are under 5-10 minutes. The only similarity I can think of between 12 and 13 is that AI plays a heavy role in it. That is to say, 12 had gambits for your secondary party members, while 13 has full AI with different preset classes for your secondary party members. I think the only thing that is really frustrating about it is that sometimes it moves too fast for your own reflexes, but there is an option to slow it down too (but that's dumb who would wanna do that I mean really).

I think there are some more legitimate concerns you could have with FF13, but the battle system isn't really one of them. Unless you're not into rpgs in general, I guess.

DOES THIS ANSWER YOUR QUESTION? I mean I could sit here typing out fat tl;drs about final fantasy all night.
[identity profile] kyogres.livejournal.com wrote:

So the battle system in FFXIII isn't just choosing "attack" from the menu and watching your character constantly attack the enemy? It really bothered me that all I had to do in battles was move (or use items, if I decided to use an item).

Sorry that I can't be more specific, but I'm not sure what that battle system is called. But if I want to attack something, I should actually have to press a button instead of automatically attacking when I get close to the enemy!

More legitimate concerns like...?

I suppose my other concern would be about the plot, but that's quite subjective. The plot in XII was too convoluted for me. About 40 hours into the game I could no longer tell the characters' motivations or even their main goals. I don't know if that was a shortcoming in the plot or just my inability to grasp all the details.
[identity profile] eyebrowaddict.livejournal.com wrote:
Apr. 24th, 2010 06:31 am (UTC)
Well, there is an auto-attack function, but you can select the specific skills yourself, too. It's an ATB style menu, so you have a more defined concept of when each character is going to act. I can't tell you how many times I raged at FF12 when the damn gauge would be full and blinking while I waited 2 minutes for the character to actually cast cure. The battle screen is separate from the main map in 13, so I think it feels a little more engaging that way. OR MAYBE I'M OLD FASHIONED.

When I say more legitimate concerns I mean like.. you do have to wait quite a while to get some plot points answered. The first few chapters try to unravel the characters a little more delicately than they need to, which is nice for characterization, but it's not until you're several chapters into the game that you start to learn important story information. I think most rpgs have a slow start, but this seems to be the biggest complaint for this game. I didn't particularly mind, but I would consider rpg to be my favorite gaming genre sooo.. I think I have a slanted opinion on it, haha.

I think in the case of FF12, the story goes strong for a while and then breaks down quite a bit, mostly due to a rushed production. A good deal of the original storyline was scrapped and rewritten a few times, and in the end the story is left with lots and lots of plotholes and blehhh. I like 12 a lot, but it really was something of a disappointment, sry2say. For FF13, I dunno. I think the plot is pretty strong, as is the character development, but it takes a while to really get going. If you're fine with being a little confused for a while, then I think you'll be pleased with the final outcome. It just takes some patience I guess.

No, I definitely like separate battle screens, as long as it doesn't take the screen forever to load like in Tales of the Abyss.

I don't mind slow starts as long as the plot actually makes sense. And character development is always good in my books.

I actually haven't been able to finish XII between the battle system and the plotholes. Towards the middle of the game I wanted to scream "Why are you people doing this? It makes no sense!"

Thank you for the information! <3 I don't really have anyone else to turn to who has played XII and XIII.

It loads like instantly man, that's the magic of ps3. |DDD The enemies are on-screen too, so you don't have to worry about taking a step and having a battle. I think the Tales series does that too?

IT DOES MAKE SENSE. It just takes a while to get there. And yeah, I love character development too. I think it's important for this sort of thing.

It's no problem! :D I've played like every final fantasy haha and I love to rant about this stuff ASK ANYONE.

Tales does that too, but the loading time in Tales of the Abyss is horribly slow for some reason. And you get an eye-bleeding orange screen flashed at you if you choose to look at your rating after each battle.

I've only played 3, 4, 7, and 12. I've been meaning to try 6, 8 and 9 but never got around to it.

I haven't played Tales of the Abyss in foreverrrr, but I wouldn't doubt it. I think I will be disgusted whenever I play my ps1/ps2 rpgs again, now that I've been spoiled by delicious ps3 load times. |DDD

You're not missing much with 9. It's kind of like 1 and 4 slapped together, haha. 6 is amazing, so is 8. In different ways, of course. 6 has a grand epic kind of feeling to it, and is actually non-linear past a certain point. 8 is focused more on characters rather than a manly adventure, which I think is really cool. Actually the main focus in 8 is on romance and self-realization. MOST PEOPLE THINK THAT'S DUMB but I'm not most people haha |DD 8 is my fave FF~ hurr

I just bought it last month because I was searching for a game like Tales of Syphonia. (Just not the sequel, which was terrible.) Tales of the Abyss is the only game I've noticed with long load times, but then again, I haven't played too many games for the PS1 and PS2. I was a little late to the Playstation scene.

My best friend loved 7 and 8, but she said that 8 was quite different. I'll have to look into it though. As long as it has character development and monsters I can kill, I'll probably like it.

And with that I am going to bed. Thank you for all the advice. <3
