gross smells

crandles is coping slightly better... JUST SLIGHTLY.

anyway im posting this because i am curious... i just got a figure in the mail of some COOL GUY that no one knows who is i am sure but he reeks like cigarettes.

badly.

funny because i half suspected it. the auction description didnt list this as a possible issue, but the guys eBay profile did (i went to it to see if he had anything else listed for sale) but i noticed this /after/ i already won the figure... so i suspected he would, and he does, but its horrible. :( I don't like being near him and i fear his stink will wipe off on my other things. anyone know any ideas to make the smell go away?

also some of his joints are really lose, more specifically the waist joint, its a turning one but its weird. I suppose it wont matter since I'll likely be posing him on a shelf forever but it still bugs me.

:I still got him for a pretty good deal though... but i am a bit annoyed.

You can try sitting this mysterious figure by an open window or outside. I know that Febreze works wonders on plush, but I am uncertain about something that is not made of fabric?! I just found a little blurb about getting cigarette smell out of kitchen utensils:

"Cigarette smoke attaches itself to any surface it comes in contact with, including kitchen utensils. The smoke leaves a nose-wrinkling odor on the utensils that lasts long after you put the cigarette out. Normal washing does little to remove the cigarette aroma, which can disrupt the use of your kitchen tools. Eliminate the cigarette smell using inexpensive and natural products."

Apparently, vinegar works wonders:

It also removes calcium deposits from aquariums...:3

Would vinegar remove the paint? ... the only other thing I was thinking was maybe some baking soda, because I know you can use that to remove weird smells from your fridge and such...

also, I am trying to reply to your PM but LJ is literally not letting me send it. :| Do you have an email that might work better?

That is a possibility, though you do dilute the vinegar. For Barbie Dolls, vinegar is suggested too:

I just found this on a GI-Joe forum:

"Easy fix- i've had to do this a few times: Leave the smelly figure(s) overnight in a bowl full of water mixed with a few pumps of purell hand sanitizer and febreeze. Kills the smell!!!"

Febreze keeps being mentioned over and over again too:

As for the PM, try deleting some of our old conversation. I just tried to PM someone else and LJ wouldn't send it. So, I scrolled to the bottom of the conversation and deleted some of the older stuffs. If it doesn't work, let me know...;)

HMMM. i might try putting him in a bag with a dryer sheet. I just cleaned him with some soap water and baking soda... still smells. I'm drying him/airing him out right now. :| Maybe soon he will be unstinky. I'd like to put him on my desk but... not with that smell. XD

I don't blame you!! My rude neighbors smoke in their apartment, though they are not suppose to. The smell often seeps in here and makes me gag. I have complained to the office manage, but it hasn't done much good...;_;

Good luck de-stinkifying him...;)
