antoj: (say what)

i started playing a thing

i started playing the team ico collection i picked up the other day.

well i started playing it a while ago. playing was slow because i started with ico and i started realizing i didn't give a shit what was going on. the combat is frustrating as shit and kind of boring and then when i did a bunch of shit the controls got all herpderp and my character fell into an endless chasm or something (idek) and then it restarted me at my last checkpoint which was over 20 minutes before that.

.....i stopped playing.

i put like 2 hours into it and i realized i didn't care if i finished it. it has a somewhat interesting concept but the lack of...idk...feeling? i dont know. i don't understand why i'm doing anything in that game and therefore i couldn't bring myself to care and it started to feel like a chore to play it. :| so I'm shelving it for now maybe forever...dunno.

so then i moved onto shadow of the colossus and other than the controls at first being kind of weird, it gets better once i got used to it (and the horse controls like a car. why does the horse control like a car. a horse is not a car. ive been calling it horsecar). ive killed like 5... 6? i think 6 of the colossi. the difference in this is that i understand why i'm doing this, and its interesting enough (and the gameplay is varying enough) to keep me interested. plus the environment is big and i like it. i also threw my guy off a water fall because i'm good at things. it was still funny though

i might play more but then i started playing Just Cause 2 because it was free from PSN. PS+ members get a whole bunch of supar cool full retail games (including inFAMOUS 2 and Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One) but I heard things about Just Cause 2 and it was free so i downloaded it................just cause IM HILARIOUS OHOHOOHOH

and i found out instantly i DO NOT CARE what is going on in the story. the characters are dumb and their voices make me want to stab out my ears but the game play is hilarious. in the first 30 minutes i played it i stole a helicopter and ran it into a giant hotel and then ejected my guy out who rag-doll'd down the side of a waterfall and landed headfirst onto some rocks but didn't die and that's hilarious and i can tell im going to have fun doing this 1 million times. you can also tether items together. so like, a dude to a car. a dude to a helicopter...a car to a plane. ITS JUST ENDLESS.

i just need to get past the AWFUL SNARE OF PLOT to let me free into the wild so i can go blow up every single thing. usually i like playing games for story but this one i just want to run around and do nothing. but it will be AWESOME.

and i say this as i want to hopefully finish 2 games in the next 3ish weeks. spec ops i want you

Hahaha, it took me forever to figure out how to control the horse in SotC. My favorite thing about SotC was being able to explore the world. That and the glitches. I managed to get my horse on top of one of the flying bosses. Watching it roll around and scream in terror was hilarious.

this just reminded me that I also have to finish Ico but it's kind of like you say. I'm not interested that much in what is going on. Maybe I haven't played too much yet but idk... maybe I should still give it another chance.

lmao horsecar. sometimes, I just don't understand controls in some games. like, how could you even fuck this up?

AHAHAHA DON'T WORRY. I didn't give a single fuck about the Just Cause 2 story as well. But something tells me that they knew exactly that people wouldn't care and only want to run around the island. There is even a totally awesome Lost easter egg in it and I was laughing forever when I discovered it.

btw, also game related, but I wanted to ask you what you think of Resistance: Burning Skies. If you have played it yet. I decided to give it a chance because, lol what else to play on the Vita, and I kind of like the gameplay even if the story isn't great :/ Wanted to know your opinion since you know these games better than I do and I don't trust all of these reviews :D
